ABOUT DR. ROSENBERG

Steven P. Rosenberg, MD is a Board Certified Dermatologist practicing in West Palm Beach since 1980. He obtained his MD from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York in 1975 and trained in Internal Medicine in Los Angeles at UCLA-Harbor General Hospital and at Montefiore Hospital in New York. Prior to his dermatology residency training, Dr. Rosenberg volunteered through Option AmDoc by providing medical services at remote hospitals and clinics in Irrua, Nigreria and Kendu Bay, Kenya as well as at a Leprosy colony in Sikonge, Tanzania. He completed his residency in Dermatology at the University of Miami and was Chief Resident in 1979. Dr. Rosenberg has continued to teach at the medical school and is currently a Clinical Professor of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery at the University of Miami and has been Chief of Dermatology at St. Mary's/ Good Samaritan Hospitals. Awards include Practitioner of the Year from the Florida Society of Dermatology 1993-1994 and the Distinguished Service Award in 1997. He has been listed in Best Doctors in America as well as listed by his peers in Palm Beach Life, South Florida Magazine, and Florida Trend Magazine's survey of best doctors. 

Dr. Rosenberg has also been president of the Palm Beach County Dermatology Society and President of the Florida Society of Dermatology. He is involved with various community activities and has served on the Board of the Palm Beach County Cultural Council and on the Board of the South Florida Science Museum where he was Chairman of the Board from 1997-1998. 

 

Dr. Rosenberg is particularly interested in improving the public's access to quality health care and actively participates in state and federal health care politics. In 1995 Governor Chiles appointed Dr. Rosenberg to the Governor's Physician Advisory Input Panel on health care issues and in 1997 the Governor appointed him to the State of Florida's Advisory Panel on Health Care. Dr. Rosenberg received national attention by successfully coordinating legislative efforts to obtain Direct Access to Dermatologists legislation in Florida. This was a four-year effort, which included his personally meeting and informing most of the state's legislators and the Governor of the need for managed care patients to have better access to dermatologists. In addition, Dr. Rosenberg founded and chaired the Florida Society of Dermatology's political action committee, PAC-Y-DERM. 

Governor Jeb Bush appointed Dr. Rosenberg to the Board of Medicine in 2006 and Governor Charlie Crist reappointed him in 2007 for a 4 year term. This is the first time a dermatologist has served on the 12 doctor panel in more than 30 years. The Board is responsible for licensing, disciplinary action, regulating, and rule making for more than 150,000 licensed practitioners in the State of Florida.
